Community Development

Ideal Friendship Nepal has also focused to the community development programs in health, social and educational sectors. To do so, it initially chooses a community or a geographic region out of a rigorous need analysis. It then devises an appropriate approach to the developmental needs of the region before seeking for any participation from agencies sharing common goals.

Undertaking of different developmental projects to deliver results that which stays with the local community as well as reflects back to the nation at large, thus contributing to the national developmental indices has been the core service of IDF-Nepal’s Community Development initiative.

i. Scholarships

In educational sector, IDF-Nepal initiates to provide the scholarship to the needy and deserving students for their school education by developing networking with individuals and organizations.

So far the following scholarships have been provided to the students in different schools in Nepal.

For two students at Unique Nepal Academy, Kathmandu
Kaji Memorial Scholarship
For one student at Sikhya Sadan Boarding School, Biratnagar
Umakant Memorial scholarship
For one student at Metropolitan Higher Secondary school, Kathmandu.

ii. Rehabilitation/Social Inclusion

Kathmandu has been developed rapidly. There are many huge buildings built, many vehicles being driven, people seem to be highly professionals and being busy and rushed too much .At the same time, we can frequently see someone laying down unconsciously on the road publicly. No people have time to look at them. We can't say how they have been unconscious and are laying there. if It may be due to hunger, drugs, alcohol, or any severe sickness. IDF-Nepal thinks whatever may be the reason , the person should be cared and rescued immediately so as to respect his /her human life and help them to bring into their normal life.

Objective
To immediately rescue the unconscious people laying on the road or public places and bring them back to normal life.

What we do?
As we have mentioned that the people laying unconsciously on the road /street might be the victims of hunger, sickness, drug, alcohol, or something else, IDF-Nepal wants to pick them up and help them to get their normal life. For this, we might take them to the hospital first. After their treatment at the hospital, they will come into consciousness and explain the story how they had to be in such condition to be laying on the public places. When they get improved mentally and physically, IDF-Nepal will make necessary inquiries and handover those to their relatives, guardians or to rehabilitation center in some cases.

Challenges
Unconscious people after they come to be conscious can create different problems like loosing things and so on .They may blame to the volunteers who involve rescuing them. And sometimes, they can even lose their life during we handle them if they have been so much serious. This will be a legal issue while doing well for others. Therefore, we want to get support from the concerned authorities like Police stations, Municipality office, District administration office, and the Public as well.

Coordination and Support
IDF- Nepal wants the co-ordination and support from the following offices.
1. Police Stations CDO Office
2. Municipality Office
3. Media
4. Hospital
5. Ambulance
6. Public Volunteers etc.

Target Area
Though there are many people we find laying unconsciously in the public places. In the beginning we will work in Kathmandu district only. We will gradually expand our target area in the future.

We request all the concerns and public to inform us about the unconsciously laying people on Phone No. 016211725.We will immediately try our best to rescue them.
